Level 40 is the maximum right now, but the season pass will eventually raise that cap.  Looking forward to the new content.

You can evidently upgrade things like your weapon strength, including the sleep, poison, and fire methods using your ability points, which continue to accumulate even though your level does not change.  I've upgraded my poison 7 or 8 times and this is the resulot on a low level enemy

What really makes it funny is that the cheeky bastards still utter big tough talk, just like the Pope in AC2 when I'm kicking his *bleep* while he keeps saying "You are right to fear me!"
