I'm in if it means I can play my PS4 games

I think I can convince her that we'll use the PS as a media controller for our music collection and videos.  ::)

It's at least 1 year, 7-8 months until we will see it for retail ;)

so without permission you can't just go buy one? :sad-new:

Yeah, in reality I can because I do not deny her anything she wants to purchase. I just like to play the role of the subservient husband.  :gnehe:

I forgot that I had purchased a 4K TV for the bedroom, which allows us to watch the 4K DirectTv programming, and maybe take advantage of the newer higher resolution media delivery devices.

So, how much money are they going to lose per unit sold? They always sell these things at a loss and make up for it in licensing and games (thank consoles for the current $60 price point for a new game). So I'd be curious to see educated guessing or even speculation on how much each unit is going to cost to make and how much they will lose on it when they set the price point at $500-600 which is what I think the market will bear for a game console. Will it cost them $700-800 to make? Or even $1000?

That was the publishers idea. What consoles have are subscription fees (Xbox Live/GamePass and PS Network+) to recoup their losses. PC, we don't have to worry about that  But yes, it's a premium device, so expect premium prices. People are willing to pay for it and going by the rumoured spec, quite the value.

looks like they produce a lot of heat.. big gfx and cpu?

Dweller_Benthos

Is that the final design or just what devs are getting to create games on? If that's what it's going to look like, then people have a lot more to make fun of than the Xbox that looks like a refrigerator.

This is what the developers have been given to test PS5 stuff on
