Heh, $1500 is like 13 000 NOK here  :-X Still, not bad considering the situation, the Ti version is priced at the more ridiculous 23 000 NOK/$2600 ::) :banghead:

... and that $1500 was the price to upgrade the build from the base build which was a 2070 or something. So add the price of that to it I guess. The Ti version wasn't even an option, might as well be fairy dust, those things.

The performance margin between the RTX 3080 Ti and normal 3080 is just 4% on average.

I'm happy that I got my GPU ordered. Sadly, the shipping date for my case got changed to 24th at Caseking. As I type this, the black edition should be shipped today, but it got postponed to 24th aswell.  :(

Anyway, here's my final specs

Dang, not bad even with the high end stuff. Though 850W PSU for a 3080? isn't it better to go 1000W? That's what I did, just to have "headroom" lol.

Nah, gonna do some undervolt  ;) Ryzens benefit greatly from undervolting, potentially higher clocks at lower power usage. For a GPU, same performance for less power draw.

Took my time to register it at EVGA's site and applied for the step up program. Considering the price I paid was double the MSRP, might aswell get some "value" in return. Unfortunately, Multicom wasn't listed as an official retailer. Still, will keep it if EVGA rejects my application, I don't see prices dropping anytime soon. :)

It will look like this then:

You didn't even take it out of the bag to gaze upon it? That's willpower lol.

So the step-up thing is like a trade-in program? You can upgrade for the cost difference?

Did that off-screen  ;)

The Step Up program

Yeah, the closest anology I can come up with, is going to the car dealership and trade in your old car for another. Obviously, the car has to be a brand the dealership sells.

Ah, nice deal, as long as they have the cards available at some realistic point in the future lol

It appears that just about everything technology is overpriced these days, often because parts are in short supply. I wanted to get a 4-channel wireless/bluetooth temperature monitor for my grills/smokers and they want $239 for it right now. Typically one can get the same unit 25% cheaper.

Because of corporate greed I suspect most business will go the same way as is seen with gasoline price  hikes. At just a hint of oil supply interruption, fuel prices immediately rise, but when the supply is re-established, it takes months for the prices to fall to the same level as before the rise.

You can't fix corporate greed  :banghead:
