when I played competitively very long ago, we did the same stuff plus removed all shadows (changed the map light) and had team mates the same colour like blue and enemies like red, text marker bright of course. We also used very short team chats sharing ammo and weapons and stuff so team mates could restock or improve their gear.

Most modern games don't let you turn off shadows completely. Unless you want to destroy your eyes  :-X

horror  ???

What we used was not exactly switching off the shadows but instead, creating a single light level that was everywhere the same and did not cast any shadows. So you did see stuff :anigrin:
