Thanks PZ :) I looked everywhere but "Home" :gnehe:

I checked out the old page. Very nostalgic to read  I will try to remake my  FC3 mod. Looking back, it certainly was fun (insane jumping heights/walking speed), but I believe I went too overboard with stuff. I'll try to dial it back a little bit and make it somewhat similar to Raven's open world FC4 mod.

I had a look on the old site but I can't find that screenshot. I looked in the topics "Screenshots", 'FC3: Funny Moments", "weird glitch", "FC3 Detail Screencaps" and "FC3 weird outcomes" before I gave up. The search is eating too far into my game time :gnehe:

But somebody else found the same place:

I'll try to be Art and see if I can find it  Unless he finds that first :D ;D

I found it first.

Found my first hole in the map, at x:678.7 / y:636.

I took on the side mission, "Cargo Dump", where an old geezer asks you to photograph the barcodes on five parcels in order to get his daughter back from aliens (or so he believes). The final parcel is on a ledge inside a waterfall. Once you get onto that ledge, if you face the rock wall behind the waterfall and move up close to it, a "climb" prompt will appear. Once you climb up, you'll go through a hole in the map, where there several places you can end up in or move between depending on where you position yourself: stuck underwater, back on the ledge (but you won't be able to get off it), or here in Placeholder Land:

Like the holes in the FC2 map, there's no way back once you fall in. But there is a way out, of sorts - simply get to the spot where you're underwater and wait to drown. After you die, the game should automatically reload with you back atop the falls, and it will have remembered your progress up to that point, so you won't lose much ground. For a change, the automatic save function works in the player's favour here.

I guess the devs forgot to finish this bit of the map :-()

They probably wanted to have a cave of some sorts. I remember finding out that the game use hidden interiors. Buck's missions takes place outside the main islands. Even the prison where you start the game is located outside the playable area.

I explored that area by modding the game.

OK, proof of concept. But damn, they just changed the camera offset and it looks terrible :D

LowPolyOWG

Yep, but it tells me that the engine supports 3rd person camera. However, if I wanted to play a 3rd person UBI*bleep* title, I would just fire up GRW. Which actually was made for being in 3rd person

I do not really have a preference for 1st versus 3rd person. I think each has it's benefit depending on the game. For example, I cannot imagine my old favorite FC2 in 3rd, nor can I imagine an AC game in 1st.

1st person in FC2 makes sense because you are a loner in a hostile world, and it does not get more solitary than placing yourself there in first person. On the other hand, one cannot appreciate the skilled sword fighting in an AC game unless you are observing from afar, so to speak.

It's good to have a choice in some games, like GTA V. Both views come in handy for different situations.

Having said that, I pretty much use 1st person exclusively in FO4. I only ever really use 3rd to see what different outfits look like on me :gnehe:

Hey Art, which topic was that "Placeholder" screenshot in, out of curiosity? I knew Art "The Bloodhound" Blade would find it if anyone could

Art Blade

hehehe

Ah *bleep*. I only just now clicked on the quote for the first time but it redirects to the new forum so the source can't be checked like that -- not what I had intended.

I had even fixed the images in the quote as the old forum software and gallery worked differently, you wouldn't have been able to see the pics in the spoilers otherwise.

Well. Sorry for the inconvenience.

here it is (topic Community » Far Cry Games » Far Cry 3 » weird glitch) :)

I've used the dying trick a time or two in order to get out of a hole. There was one in Wildlands into which I fell, and a drop of a grenade at my feet was all it took.  :gnehe:

Art Blade

yeah, I had to do that, too..
