Yeah those guns will be just things to troll other players with, I don't see any need for them in the normal game. In arena stuff like I said, that's fine, players expect that going in, but it should stay there. That vehicle in the video above showing the stunt slide or whatever it is, would be almost useless in any arena game I've seen so far. I've already mentioned how the faster and more maneuverable your vehicle is, the better off you are. That thing doesn't look like it could even turn around in the space in the arena, so I don't know what they expect it to be used for. Unless there's a game mode I haven't seen yet.

it's not even fun anymore to read about all the stuff Rapestar is doing to GTA.

Rapestar  :laughsm:

Well, they don't give a *bleep* about PC, gotta wait several years for that  ::) They can even break their online game with every new update. Also, they don't really care for complaints regarding the online economy. People expected RDR Online to fix that, but no.

I'm just glad that there are always (usually new) companies trying to make it right. IOI being one (of the older ones) of them.

Was Ushit small when they developed farcry 2? Just out of interest, I really don't know

I don't know, but I recall reading that it was one of the first open world games, and I think the map was something like 50 square kilometers or so. I recall seeing advertisements with in-game footage that was really impressive, and as a result, FC2 became the motivation for me to start gaming, beginning with the PS3.

No, they did some missteps during development. And had to do a crazy amount of crunch periods to hit launch date. Their Ubified formula wasn't established yet, so they made FC2 a tech demo of some sorts, rather than a proper game.

I remember Farcry 2 always being in a special showcase with collectors items and such. I was playing GTA IV back then, and didn't care for it at all. I found it 'just another war game that didn't interest me'. Later, through the old site, I got in contact with the game and started playing it. However, even then it was already known for its way of moving gamers to pay more than just the usual amount of dough for a game.
However, the enormous attention was intreging, and when I started playing the game my expectations were high. In a way that was appropriate. In a way it wasn't. It never became my number one game, but I did like the rough edges it had. The vast and dense atmosphere was nice, with the attention to detail like languages, merc behaviour, graphics etc.

Far Cry 2 had a lot to live up to after the original Far Cry which had some open world aspects, but wasn't totally open. You could pick several paths to get to some of the objectives, but it was was essentially linear. There was a lot to fool around with though. I remember just driving around in the big truck causing havok and exploring all the nooks and crannies of the map. And it looked so cool too. Thing is, I bought the game again as part of a bundle on the UBI*bleep* launcher and played it and boy does it look dated now. Also, it's not easy. I took three or four tries to just get past the first set of mercenaries, there's no health packs you can carry, you just have to pick them up when you can and use them then, if you don't need it then, you leave it. I had to really be careful to not get killed by the low level enemies. Took some getting used to, that's for sure. But Far Cry 2 had to live up to that and I remember it not looking as bright as the first one. The colors were muted in comparison, but now I realize they were going for a dusty Africa, not a tropical island. I can say I played FC2 a lot more than the first one.

But back on topic. Had a good run in the arena tonight, actually came in second in one of the matches, which was a demolition derby type race where you either complete the race or get eliminated. Came in second when everyone else died, lol. Was actually in first for a while until the guy with the faster motorcycle caught up to me and passed me. The players who get knocked out can then spectate and if they win the chance wheel, they can get drones or other power ups to mess with the people still in the race. I had people shooting at me from the towers the whole race, but eventually did finish. Then I did a few rounds of another demolition style game where one team has a few players in monster trucks and the other team has small cars like Minis and they have to survive as long as possible. It took a few rounds but we eventually won a match and I made a total of $147K or so for the night. I was satisfied.

Then I was heading back to the garage when there was again talk in chat of a hacker on the server, and I got a UFO dropped on my head. I started to record video after that but nothing else of note happened, so I headed home and quit for the night. Here's the video which isn't very long but nothing much happens. The UFO in the sky at the beginning is about the most exciting part.

Weird seeing that UFO in the GTA world  ???

Dweller_Benthos

It was really weird when it hit me on the head! Then bounced into the air.

Indeed!  Must have been a UFO balloon.  ::)

fragger

Didn't a UFO sometimes show up in the original game if you achieved 100% completion or something?

Dweller_Benthos

Yeah there's a specific spot on the mountain where you can see it I think, if conditions are right.

Yes indeed! There's several actually. One above the hippy Beam-Me-Up site, one in the ocean to the North, one above Mount Chilliad and one above Fort Zancudo. I don't remember though what requirements exactly you have to meet. 100% completion is indeed one of them, and it only appears on certain moments.
There have been many people searching for them and additional alien Easter eggs hoping to unlock the so called Chilliad mystery. They expected to unlock a yetpack, but they never solved all the riddles, íf they were riddles at all.
I wonder how they felt when the Doomsday online DLC released a fancy yetpack 😊
