in the end, who cares about why—it still makes us angry.

what did I just download? 2.9GB of something I don't even know whether I'll ever use it or not..

thank you :)

They should have done that many years ago. Now.. it's just reeking of, "more expensive to buy, expand, and maintain than anything before! Also, more grinding for money than you could have ever imagined!" Kind of.

Dweller_Benthos

Yep, played some of it last night to test it out. The games are pretty meh, but I didn't bother doing the "high stakes" ones as I don't have that kind of cash.

But from that video, it looks like there's a quest associated with it? Or a mission? How do you start that? No, don't answer, I'm sure it's "Buy the penthouse for 1.5 million and you can get it then"

I think you hit the hammer on the nail D_B. But it looks all pretty awesome tbh! Gonna definitely check it out and hopefully have lots of fun with it 😎

Well, if I see you online maybe I'll join, the gambling stuff doesn't really appeal to me, but if there's a mission or quest involved, I'd be up for that.

Strange thing happened when I logged into GTAV today, I was away when the game loaded taking care of some "business" and when I got back, I went down to the garage to grab a car to hit up the casino. Well, to my surprise, my garage was full of buxom women in bikinis or just kinis? (the bottoms lol) and they were all involved in the fist fight. They didn't all have female voices though, which was funny as well. So they eventually fought until there was only one left:

So must have been those hackers again, fooling around. I put censor bars on the poor ladies who somehow lost their tops just for propriety's sake.

I usually hit up the casino once a day to spin the chance wheel which gets you any number of prizes like money, RP, clothes, or a chance at a nice car. So I figure I might as well. The games there are complete ripoffs though, I played blackjack for about 20 minutes and lost about $2000. I was doing good at the start, and should have quit while I was ahead, but as usual in these things, I didn't and soon lost all I had gained and then some. I mean it's hard to beat a dealer when you're standing on 19 and he is showing a 10 a pulls out a king to get 20.

I've made more money and had more amusement going around finding the deck of playing cards that are scattered around the map. You get money and RP from each one and I've done pretty well, using a map online it's pretty easy to find them and takes you to places you might not have been in a while, or ever.

that's a funny hack but still a hack and as such, annoying.

Casino.. there was a casino DLC for Test Drive Unlimited Online and I used to play poker tournaments against other players in order to win money and prize cars. You can win against real people but certainly not for long against AI. Among real people are idiots who don't understand that bloody always going "all in" the first time they can bet not only spoils it for other players but also isn't a winning strategy. They'd quickly end up on empty tables because hell, we (the others) were not willing to gamble like that. Anyway.. it's been a long time and I don't do that kind of things anymore.

Had a fun run with Binn last night in some of the new Casino missions. Though we did poorly and had to restart many times. Which is probably what caused an issue after Binn left. I went to the casino to spin the lucky wheel and won $30K which would have been a nice topper on the money I earned in the missions. But nope, of course not, got an error message to the effect "Your game has sent too many transactions this session, see support blah blah yadda yadda" the result of which is I didn't get my $30K winnings. Looking into it, it seems this has been in place since 2017 or therabouts, judging by the posts complaining about it. Rockstar of course says nothing about it but the general consensus is that it's an anti-cheat method set in place to prevent people spawning in money for themselves. Apparently some cheats for GTA let you spawn in a bag of money you can pick up which at the time was less obvious than just changing your bank account total. So getting a bunch of smaller cash awards over a relatively short period of time is considered suspicious and if you get enough it shuts you down from making any money at all that way. Since Binn & I had to replay each of the missions a couple of times, we'd get a cash reward of a couple thousand each time which added up nicely but the multiple small amounts over a short time triggered the cops I guess.

Of course there are any number of complaints about people doing legitimate w0#k like Binn & I did over an hour or two and getting no money from it. Luckily I just got hit for the $30K and not a larger number. I can see why they would put something in place to try to prevent cheating but this is just too ham fisted and catches too many people who aren't cheating.

From what I saw other people saying, there's no point in trying to appeal it either. Rockstar's support is bad enough anyway, and this is something they apparently don't admit to so there's not much chance of getting the money you earned.

Still had fun though.

it's good that the two of you had some fun together but damn, that playing "too much" equals cheating is just so wrong.

Dweller_Benthos

Yeah it was a bit surprising and annoying. But I had earned it all honestly which is even more annoying. I saw a few posts from people admitting to using the hack to get money and all of a sudden that pops up for them keeping them from using their cheats, so it does w0#k in that way, but the fact that it also catches so many honest players (even if half the posts I saw about it were really honest players, it was still very many) makes it a flawed system. There should be a better way to fix the problem.

yes, agree. The entire money-making is so limited now, time-limited without being able to repeat a certain action that otherwise would reward the player, that for some time now it doesn't really spark any motivation to continue anymore. Like, you can only do a club mission every 20 or so minutes, causing you to wait and somehow pass the time. You can't sell a (stolen) car for one in-game day (48 minutes real time) and so on and so forth. Why? Shark cards, micro transactions.

BinnZ

D_B, I think what happened to you wasn't the actual anti- cheat mechanism. That one usually gets triggered when you earn too much money in too little time. It gets triggered when you make like close to a million within 30 minutes or something like that. I used this to join guys who glitched finales (repeat a finale without having to do all setups again by disconnecting from the game services just before triggering the completion checkpoint) and it would occur on bank payments after earning close to a million, which resulted in not receiving the elite challenge bonus of the finale because it's being paid through bank. The rest of the money was still paid in pocket money / cash but when you would continue for another round maybe even the cash payments would have been blocked.

I think what happened to you was a server related error and I even assume you will still get the 30k the next time you login.
I think this is happening now because of so many ppl playing gta now. The new dlc has a massive attraction to old players and East Asian folks who love to gamble 😉

Dweller_Benthos

Maybe, I don't know. I know I earned well over half a million that session, maybe close to three quarters. I had done a couple random events, got a bonus for logging on, a few other things before joining you where we failed the missions a lot, making some money each time, which added up. So either it was just enough money over just enough time and in small enough amounts to trigger it or a connection thing. Either way it's water under the bridge, now I'm down to finding the last 5 or 6 playing cards and spinning the wheel once a day.
