That is an excellent question, and I get the feeling that their thought is "yeah, we should do something about that one day". Can't fault them too much though, it is free software.

even free software doesn't have to be badly maintained. In this case, why don't they simply turn off the "default" checkbox for that wonky WYSIWYG edior, by default, until it's fixed? That's what is beyond me.

Totally agree. I can only imagine that because the project has been around for so long, the founders are tired/bored of taking care of it. I'm sure you recall one of the issues with the platform is that as long as OWG has been in existence, they have not improved it beyond version 2. Mostly the updates are to add a few features, and probably more importantly, supporting the latest php and security measures.

there are still options if you're tired of it: sell it or make it open source, then retire.
