Thanks for the info, nex  And for the bit of personal history!

Art, we used to get a British TV show here called "Pot Black" which showed televised snooker tournaments, but it ended in 1986. Pity, I used to love watching that.

Oh well, there's always You Tube.

Art Blade

indeed, these days YouTube provides a lot of niche stuff we wouldn't get to see anywhere else like the IOM TT :gnehe:

fascinating. You really don't want to get caught in one of those

BinnZ

No, indeed. Horrifying. So slow, but so damn powerful... nothing can stop it

Imagine that grinder mounted on a garbage truck of sorts, or more like, fixed to the front of one.

I've seen something similar in action at a garbage collection place, we tossed an old couch into it and it was very satisfying to watch it eat that ugly thing. It would have been very easy to fall in though, we were careful, plus it wasn't running until we were clear.

A (very) short film completed in mid 2012. A "faithful" recreation of a real episode a few years earlier. One of those "only in Japan" moments. Enjoy...

from my point of view: a guy witnesses how two guards/bouncers are dragging an unconscious body to an underground station. The unconscious guy wakes up, gets into a tickling contest, hops down the first flight of stairs, bows deeply (as a form of respect and in this case probably also a "thank you") and disappears.

Why didn't the bouncers call an ambulance?
Why did they drag him to a station?
Why did all three of them have fun with tickling?
Why isn't the formerly unconscious guy worried at all about what happened, how he got there?

All of that is so surreal.. which is why the author commented on it that it's something that can only happen in Japan. It must have impressed him very much subconsciously so three years later (!) he re-created the situation for this short.

I just love it :)

Ah, I did not get they were bouncers, presumably from the club where the man in the suit imbibed too much. So instead of, as in most of the world, at least in the USA, the bouncers would have tossed an overly drunk customer into the street to fend for himself, they escorted him to the subway to help him get home. Recovering he thanks them and goes on his way. The tickling bit is the only mysterious part, but probably makes sense to someone native to Japan.

yeah, I too would have expected them to either just toss him out or call an ambulance. I mean, someone who passes out should always be checked on, it's not to be trifled with.

However, I thought maybe the three were kind of friends which is probably why they "cared" and ended up in a tickling bout.

Still, for someone who had passed out, that guy gets up surprisingly well, as if nothing like that had ever happened. Crazy :)
