Yeah something like that. I forget what it was last night, but I had 13 or 14 and beyond the initial challenge to get 6, I'm not really trying too hard. If I happen to see an opportunity to get a long range shot, I take it, but I'm not seeking them out either. So depending on the number of players, this one may not complete this week. It would be the first one so far if that is the case. We shall see.

Well, it would still mean that you'd need 35,000 players with 10 kills each.

Yep, most challenges require 10/20 individual player kills.

Yeah the last challenge didn't get finished, the community part anyway. The latest one was finished before I even looked to see what it was. But getting 20 kills with a buddy is pretty easy.

Oh, and here's the latest update on the new connection:

A bit of an improvement over my last attempt to download this game:

I feel for you, PZ, it's just so frustrating. Pretty much everything now expects you to have a constant, always-on, always connected, high speed rate. You run a program and it says "Oh! We found an update! This will just take a few minutes!" Right. Half an hour later (if you're lucky) and you might be able to do what you were doing. Then there's the programs that download stuff (I'm staring you in the face, Steam!) that not only expect a connection, but expect a fast one, and if you don't download fast enough, it gives up with a "time out" because, eh, it can't be bothered to stay connected to you long enough to download at the paltry speed you have, so it's just going to give up. Far Cry 5 would do that with arcade maps too. Just plain frustrating.

So, after that update, found out there's a bug with any items you got from the pre-order gold edition. They just disappear from your inventory. I loaded the game and had a shovel and some grenades and other explosives. No weapons at all, because I'm using the ones from the gold edition. So I had to high-tail it to the nearest shop, which wasn't very close, and re-equip all my weapons. Luckily, they were actually available, as later on, I died, reloaded the game and had no weapons, so I went to the shop and they weren't listed there either. I had to close the game and run it again, then load the save and go to the shop again to get my weapons. Seems there's a lot of people with this issue, if what I see on Reddit is any clue, so hopefully they fix it in a timely manner, knowing UBI*bleep****** that will be sometime this year. If you're lucky.

Oh yeah, in between all that, I followed Boomer after dismissing him to see where he went and he made a beeline for the pumpkin patch where you find him and hung around there. I went across the street to get some more ammo and got into a fight with a bunch of cultists who drive along that road all the time, then went back to the pumpkin patch and he wasn't there. I added him to my companions and he appeared just on the other side of the hill and made his way to me. Dismissed him again and he hung around there until I left. I would imagine it's the same with the other animals, they go back to where you find them. I have yet to test that though.

Even my stupid Blu-Ray player wanted to do an update the last time I fired up a movie!  :banghead:

Naturally I just bailed out of that routine as I do for many of the things I have. That is one of the reasons I do not replay some of my video games because of the dreaded "You need to update in order to use network features" message. Fortunately some of the games allow you to go into the game anyway, but it sure is a pain.

Back on topic - I'm finished with the game for now. I just lost interest because UBI*bleep* is not doing anything to encourage me to return to the game (a games plus mode would certainly help). Too bad really, because I enjoyed roaming the regular world meeting (and fighting cultists), but the absence of almost all bad guys is rather boring.

However, probably the most irritating thing about finishing the game and roaming around is the incessant overly loud airplanes that are always buzzing overhead.  What is really stupid is that when they spawn up in the air, you can hear the sounds of their engine starting up. Talk about cheap programming skills - UBI*bleep* just used the same routine of any plane starting in an airfield, but now it is already flying overhead when it starts.

Some people have started shooting them down they are so frustrated with the stupid spawning and blaring engine sounds - totally ruins the ambiance of roaming the woods.

Art Blade

this is one of the few games that even just watching it on YT is bloody excruciating. I noticed small planes that seem to spawn and keep attacking every once in a while, among other stuff attacking the player. It seems it's next to impossible to just walk around to enjoy the landscape. What annoys me most is the constant blaring of people over the radio. Can't they just shut up? All those speeches that you're given every five minutes are so.. annoying. A mix of patronizing and patriotism or religious fanaticism, and essentially useless. They're so meaningless, all those people. I'm just glad I stayed away from it.

Dweller_Benthos

That's why in my current game, I'm not finishing the main story quests as much as possible. I think in Faith's area you have no choice, the main story quest all follow each other, unlike in the other two regions, once you've defeated the main boss for that region, you are then given the quest to destroy their bunker, which is the actual end of the quest in that region, so you can leave that and the region will remain "active" as far as patrols and random encounters go, but any outposts you liberate will remain liberated. So if you are careful not to liberate too much and not do the final mission, you have an open world with fighting still going on. Except for Faith's region, as I mentioned. But if you go to certain areas you can roam around fairly peacefully and hunt and fish or just explore as you want.

The first DLC is supposed to be out in a month or two I think, we'll see how that goes.

Art Blade

it will likely be the first time you can go home from w0#k, switch on your PC, notice a DLC is available, purchase it and simply start to download it. Then you grab a cup of coffee and return to your PC which, likely for the first time, will have finished downloading by the time you put down that mug. Start up the game and have a sip of coffee. Must be heaven for you :)

looks like,

"Boss, I found some old projects in that drawer. It's, uh, Vietnam stuff."
"Good, let's sell it as DLC."
"But it doesn't really fit the FC5 story."
"So what? They'll pay and play anyway. Emphasis on pay."
"Alright, we'll push it out now."

 :laughsm:

Probably planned since the FC survey back in 2014/2015 I guess.

Yeah, not so much a Far Cry game but a Vietnam game using the Far Cry engine. I guess it follows the character you get the lighters mission from in the main game.

I'm still curious as to how Nick Fry gets to Mars in that DLC.
