Yeah the vids I saw seemed like there was an awful lot of riding a horse somewhere then doing some minor thing then more riding a horse.

Pretty much that. The game is overly detailed to the point it becomes a chore ::)

Yes, riding the horse across the landscape is a big part of it, but in defense of the game, the graphics are so good, it looks almost like a continuous cutscene. For those that like to explore the environment as realistic as possible, the game is a winner.

You're right PZ, the graphics are exceptional, probably the reason why I watched
so many of the walkthrough vids.

150 GB HDD space?!  ??? :banghead: So, 149 GBs of uncompressed loading screens then ::)

Also, Windows 10 is recommended. Leaks suggested a DX12 renderer and DX12 is exclusive to both Win 7 and 10. Microsoft really wants to distance themselves from Win 8 :laughsm:

was there a w8?

149GB is enormous. My current Hitman 2 with additional 2 normal maps and additional 2 sniper maps and the entire predecessor (Hitman 2016) included as a "legacy pack" as well as every DLC with additional stuff, the whole package is worth 155GB. And that's a lot.

Today I saw a commercial on Steam that "The Hunter; Call of the Wild" is on sale. And that reminded me of what some of you commented on both RDR2 and GTA games; you can't bring yourself to being a super villain killing people as a criminal. I have the same with this tittle. I just can't bring myself to killing animals for fun, although I'm pretty sure the game must be super good. Since I've been playing Generation Zero I've been thinking of this tittle. Same engine, same graphics, same studio, it's got to be really great. I just don't want to go out hunting animals.
Funny how we can be so the same, but on different aspects

I've seen some video of this game, at least it was a hunting game, so maybe not this specific one, but the person playing soon abandoned the hunting aspect of the game and just went around taking pictures with the screenshot utility.

RDR2 tech talk. Seems R* are doubling down on multithread CPUs, going by the recommended spec being a i7-4770K/Ryzen 5

Looks like review sites had a limited play session at R* New York. No, there will be no ray tracing support, R* decided they rather enhance the technology they already had, instead of making something new.

And the game released one and a half hour ago. People are reporting some crashes, PCgamingWiki reports about anti-virus programs flagging the game as malware :D Also, poor performance on high-end hardware. For now, avoid until fixed. The game supports both DX11 Vulkan and DX12 APIs so maybe one of them might be the culprit. Or, GPU manufacturers messing up drivers.

EDIT: No, R* went full next gen APIs, so no DX11. Just Vulkan/DX12.
