Yeah usually I see what it is though, and it leaves the little "dead critter" icon on the map but neither happened this time, I just got a kill somehow. Weird.

Did a little more "sampling" last night as that's what it's called. You tranquilize something and then approach it and take a syringe and draw blood from it I guess. There were two daily quests to get samples from creatures in various areas, two from river/forest and two from desert. Luckily the free roam event for sampling popped up and it was in the desert so that one was easy. As it was, I didn't even sample one thing, never could find anything to sample, so I got credit for everything the other players did by doing nothing but riding around for a few minutes. I could also sell all those samples to Harriet later at her shop, which was nice, a non-effort profit!

Then steam went offline and I couldn't get back on for an hour so I went on to other games after it was back.

Found out what happens when Harriet gets mad at you for killing too many animals. As usual, I was just minding my own business on my way to grab some collectibles and a pack of four wolves attack me. There's no choice, what are you going to do? So I killed three of them and the fourth ran off. Actually I killed two outright and had the new option of mercy killing the third one. Anyway, got my stuff and headed to Harriet's to sell her my samples and buy some more tranquilizers. Turns out she wasn't happy and sprayed me with her perfume bottle or whatever it is and I woke up a little distance away. I went back to see what she would say and she just said I had to be punished and wouldn't buy or sell to me for like 20 minutes or so. Slightly amusing and a little inconvenient but nothing Earth shattering, it was kind of funny too.

The best deal is still the tagging animals free roam event, you get all the credit and sample for everything that all the other players collect, which you can then sell, so an easy way to make money.

There's also the new fossil collecting, but that's only on PS4 right now for some reason, that will add some more stuff to collect once they get around to releasing it on PC. Stupid exclusive deals. Makes me not want to buy a console even more than I normally do and that's not much. And I'm sure as heck not going to buy one just to get an exclusive deal like that.

yep.. those Rockstar deals sound more and more silly to me as a PC-bound customer.

Well, the console guys have another issue; R* withdrew their entire DLC from the platforms because of numerous issues, and will re-release it when it's fixed. Funny side note; the bugs people were complaining about was "inaccessibility of the moonshine shack in many occasions" and "disappearing camps". WTF?!?!?!?! How did they not immediately withdraw and fix those issues on PC then????!!!!!! :angry-new: :angry-new: :angry-new: :angry-new:

Oh yeah, heaven forbid something goes wrong on their precious PS4 but on PC? Who cares, let them deal with it until we eventually (never) get around to fixing it. I've been in my camp about to do something only to have everything in it disappear around me. Camp was now located someplace else, or I had to reconnect and spawn at camp again, forget which.

Won a couple free roam events lately, the first the wildlife photographer event where you have to take pictures of the wildlife, go figure. You get scored on how many pictures you take and how photogenic the animals are in it. First time I've won it, usually I get about half the score of the winner. Got lucky with it this time.

Another time I won the archer contest, which I have won before, so not as special, but still pretty cool:

congratz on both :) Your screenies are typically very good, winning that wildlife photographer event is very fitting

Thanks! I try to make the picture in the contest at least somewhat decent, you can use blending potions which make the animals not run away nearly as much so you can get closer. I lucked out on that contest as I got three shots of Bison, one with two of them in it, even then I didn't get the highest rated single photo, the second place person got that, but I got more in total.

Getting pictures of predators like mountain lions and bears is a bit more tricky, you tend to get attacked and if you kill any animals in the event, you get kicked out I believe. So you have to be sneaky and get the picture and run.

Too bad it doesn't save the pictures you take in the event though, I'd like to have a few to look at afterwards.

I see. And yes, they should at least give you an option to save them.

Pro-tip: Don't try to ride your horse on a train.

So, the train was stopped at the station and I thought it would be cool to ride my horse up on the train and then ride around on the train while on my horse. Yeah, didn't go so well. Apparently horses are programmed to stay away from the trains so they don't get run over. Well, it freaked out while being on the train when it started moving, completely went all spazz and ran right off the side of the train car, thus getting hit by the train and critically wounded.

So yeah, don't try to ride your horse on the train.  :laughsm:

It was kinda funny though.

OK, the horse jumping off the train and falling off the bridge I get, but how did you get the photo from under the bridge like that? What were you doing to get in that position? Funny though.

"I'd rather jump off this bridge than ride a train." - Horse, probably

I don't remember what I did to get that shot (it's from early March 2020) but it wasn't easy at all.
