well, walk over to him, slap him, and take it away from him.  :-()

Slap him with what - a tomahawk missle?!  :-()

Art Blade

a large trout, perhaps?  ;D

mmosu

that would have to be one large trout  :o
(or one average sized trout with an abnormally large smell  ???)

spaceboy

Oh those are the guys you need to shoot them in their tanks in the back right?  I liked the regular Helghast soldiers the best, especially when shooting their helmets off and seeing their sickly white milky heads (so similar to Darth Vader's head).

mmosu

That's the one.  You have to bean some shots off of his helmet to disorient him and then shoot the cells on his back that power his suit.  I like him just because he's a tank.  And that's simultaneously his greatest strength and his greatest weakness - he thinks he's invincible and will go toe to toe with a whole squad with no thought of seeking cover.  It's also cool that they included and gave voice to his frustration with the relative immobility of his heavy armor and equipment.  If you listen carefully you can sometimes hear heavies screaming things like "GGGGRRRRAAAHHHH! D@MMIT!!!! SO SLOW!!!!"  ^+-+

mmosu

One more pic - I just think the concepts of the different Helghast soldier types are really cool:

spaceboy

cool.  I didn't really realize there were so many types.  When their shooting at me I mostly just notice their eyes!

Those glowing red eyes make something convenient to aim at, don't they  >:D  (Of course, after you shoot the helmet off, the pasty darth vader head makes a good target too)

mmosu

Is something burning? Just did the mine level and got to use the Petrusite gun for the first time.  Wow, that thing is a brute.  Nothing like slapping the crap out of everyone around with a lightning bolt while you giggle like a little girl  >:D

Ah, here it is:

a portable, rechargeable, ownage gun . . . beautiful  >:D

yeah I like that one.  Especially the fact that you reload/recharge by sucking the natural electricity in the air, Helghan being a less than hospitable planet.

You'd think  the entire Helghan army would be outfitted with it...save on ammo!  Visari wasn't thinking green :)

Yeah, there's nothing like a good, clean, renewable energy source!  :-()
And yes, they've pulled enough of this ore out of the ground to build an electric fence on steroids around their capital city, but apparently there wasn't enough to outfit standard Helghast infantry with arc cannons!  It's a good thing you're not an evil dictator Space, you think too practically  :-D

Art Blade

I'm not so sure about it. When he thinks nobody is watching him, he's a mean guy. Just give him a car  and watch what he can do with it ^-^

lol - yeah I'm sure my kids might say differently at times.  except one young man who better appreciate his dad's obsession with games - what a lucky little gamer he is!

Finished my first playthrough and immediately started a second.  I've now adapted to the control layout quite nicely - still would tweak it a bit more if I could though.

One thing I noticed is that, in comparison to KZ1, this game is short.  My first through clocked in at around 6 1/2 hours, and I remember that KZ1 took me a whole weekend of almost nonstop playing to complete.  That aspect, to me, is a little disappointing, because even though this struggle was epic but short, the previous standard set by the first game had me expecting something epic in both difficulty and length.  That said, there are still some very cool elements in this game, and those elements take a lot of developer resources to produce, which in turn limits game length.  Particularly I'm thinking of the intensity of some of the encounters, the voice acting that goes along with this, the extremely smart enemy AI, and all the events and effects it takes to make a linear FPS feel as chaotic and out of control as this game does.  As I said before, at no point did I ever feel safe, or like I had a distinct advantage over the enemy in a given situation.  I played through the whole game always feeling those red eyes on my back, especially in scenes like the one where you and Rico have to sweep through the seemingly abandoned mining facility looking for the lost recon team.  And I liked the fact that you have to actually w@&k with your friendly AI's so that you don't end up to far forward and get overwhelmed (which happened to me a few times).  All in all it was worth the price of admission in and of itself and also to get me caught up for KZ3 in February!
