I'm curious how the end game will play out. Maybe you can leg it with the diamonds..  :)

Have you visited a safehouse to get your rescue buddy to step up to BB?  Sometimes you've got to run through that protocol to bump them along.
No, but when I visited the APR to get another main mission, which was the one to destroy the pipeline, my destination was the Taemoco Mine to pick up dynamite.  Once I completed that, Nasreen (my former rescue-ready buddy) called me for a side mission.  When I checked the log, she was of course listed as my main buddy, and another was now rescue-ready.  I'd not visited any safe house in the interim.  In any case, both the buddies and the tapes are not working again.  However, still stuck on the "boots" tape.

OK, here's a bit of weirdness I just encountered.

I'm on my most recent run through FC2.  I've just reached the second half of the game completing the barge mission escorting weapons to Selao with Nasreen as the skipper and Andre was waiting for me at the Dr.'s office.

All said and done with Nasreen delivered safely in to the safe harbor of the Marina I grabbed a quick weapons dealer mission to unlock the AS50 and pass some time until the bar opened.  On the way to my mark I noticed that Andre hadn't been alerted I was on the prowl and needed backup.

One of the safe houses that serve as a later diverted mission meeting point was right on the way so I stopped in to contact Ardre.

He surprised me by saying "I heard about what happened to Marty.  I hope he went quickly".

Marty had been my best BB in Leboa Seko whom I'd nurse maided through the entire level and one of the gang that I left to fend for themselves at Mike's while I assisted the folks of the underground over at Father Malia's church for their kind assistance of keeping me in my malaria meds.

I don't think I've ever had a buddy in the South comment on a buddy from up North before so it caught me off guard.  Compounding the weirdness Marty is listed as missing not dead so I'm pretty sure we'll meet again in the great beyond (beyond the Heart of Darkness that is  >:D ).

Although I've heard a line like that before, I've not noticed if it was a buddy from the same area of the map or one from Leboa.  I guess this yet another example of how FC2 can surprise you no matter how many trips you take through Africa.  :-X

Art Blade

I know that one of the buddies will show up either in Leboa or Bowa, and I think it is Marty. That would explain why his name is among those that can be mentioned in Bowa.

Any time a BB is killed it's common for the 2nd BB to offer some commiseration when you activate them for backup and I've spent a lot of time examining those comments searching for back story on the varied characters.  This time it struck me as odd.

And yes, Marty is  the floater that can appear either North or South depending on your initial character selection but still when I look at the buddy list he's marked as missing not mercy killed or other.

That Andre is a known liar - I would trust him any farther than I could throw him  :-()

If all my buddies are talking about me behind my back I'll have to deal with them.   >:D

In the beginning I thought it was cool to have best buddies and rescue buddies, even some tough girls among them. The more I played however, the less I cared about them. Until it became a habit to shoot them as soon as I could  :-D

When I think my BB's need to be thinned out I allow myself to be shot to pieces so I can be rescued, my BB will then get shot in the head for his/her troubles       >:D

That was a really strange day indeed - maybe it's the PS3 version. Whilst I've not experienced such a bad run as that so far, I have had a few of the other things happen. The assassination gig over in the north east of the southern map, I caught up with the convoy at the weapon shop - killed the lot, with one of the mercs actually killing my target for me  :-X

Mission done, I went into the store for more supplies and came out to be confronted by the whole groups again. Retreating behind the weapon shop store, I used a Molotov on the two trucks jammed in there, which blew up nicely and killed most of the mercs - then an almighty explosion errupted while I was busy taking down the last two. Inside the store room all the grenades had gone off.

I've also had mercs waiting for me outside of a safe houses and even at Mike's bar (south) - though maybe that one had followed me down there from one of the nearby GPs - I sometimes rattle their cages a bit when bowling through.

All of this has only happened in the south.

One last thing, Andre also needed reviving not far from the brewery but even after making him better, he got worse again, remained on his knees, gasping and not looking at all well. I waited, and waited - no prompts came from any angle, so I shot him...

Done that a couple of times on purpose. Just lay fire behind the armoury  :-D
