... one of my favorite stupid comedies.  Don Adams plays Maxwell Smart, a bumbling, incompetent spy.  His repetitive mistakes (like opening the door into the Chief's face) are hilarious.

I loved it, especially 99, they remade it recently as a (really crap) movie.  :-X

I was excited when the movie was announced, but fell asleep within the first 30 minutes when  watched it - very disappointed.

One fine episode was set as a psychedelic drug addict - the Groovy Guru - I've forgotten some of the lines, but I remember it as one that was really funny.  I purchased the set on special some time ago, and will enjoy reliving the funny times again.

My kids love all that old box set stuff I buy, like man from uncle etc. All they have nowadays are cartoons or kids growing up sitcoms, none of the old cold war stuff/secret agent stuff.

I remember those - also to include I Spy, The Girl From Uncle, The Saint with Roger Moore, Secret Agent with Patrick McGoohan, and The Avengers.

Fiach

Yeah we have The Saint and The Avengers (and the New Avengers), I never heard of the others though.

I would love to get my hands on SGT Bilko, I think they would love that, there is a character in The Penguins of Madagascar (which they love), that sounds just like Phil Silvers :)

Fiach, you may knowSecret Agent as Dangerman, that's what it was called here and I believe in some other countries. I can't say I ever heard of the Girl From Uncle but I remember the other shows PZ mentioned. A similar show to The Saint was The Persuaders, with Roger Moore and Tony Curtis. I used to like that.

Sgt. Bilko :-D Now that really takes me back! Haven't seen that one since before my age reached double digits :-()

Love get Smart, I've got some of them on DVD :-X I like that Siegfried character who works for KAOS, he's a hoot :-()

Fiach

Ah, Dangerman yes :)

The Persuaders I LOVED, Curtis was great, heads I win, Tails you lose :)

We missed out on a lot of good TV shows because TV came so late to SA in the 1900's , the first few years programs only started after 6pm news and the flag appeard together with the national anthem around midnight.........some of the TV series were dubbed to Afrikaans to give an even program selection to it's viewers, idiots...........!!!! can you imagine Steve Austin and Buck Rogers speaking Afrikaans????

I had a good laugh watching the local TV channels in Hong Kong many years ago and hearing characters like Steve McGarrett from Hawaii 50 and Karl Malden from The Streets of San Francisco speaking in high-pitched Chinese voices that sounded nothing like their own :-() There were English-speaking channels, but the Chinese-speaking ones were often more entertaining, even though I didn't have a clue what was being said.
