If you are also playing Assassins Creed 3 while in Rooks Island, then try the Lost Expedition mission east of Citra's temple.

Here's what you'll find

hehe, I read about it somewhere but these are the first pics I see. Nice  ^-^ :-X You don't have to play AC to get that message as far as I know.

^-^  I'm not surprised; there are so many similarities between AC3 and FC3  :-X

I love and and at the same time hate them both  ^-^

Speaking of easter eggs, I've noticed one. During one of the missions where you have to climb a lot, I think it's one of the 'lost expedition' missions, Jason will say "I could use a Portal right now". It immediately reminded me of Portal 2 where you had to make your way up huge caves using portals ;)

You don't have to play AC3 but it is a clear reference to the AC series and anyone who never played the game would not get it.  ;)

do you know what they'd get to see instead of that message?

I'm confused. Where's the AC easter egg ?

The Lost Expedition is a bonus mission I got with the premium edition of FC3.

I see. But I don't see the AC easter egg in the screenie JRD posted.

Durian, I take from your comment that you are not playing or have played any Assassins Creed game. The message has clear references to the game, for instance, Pieces of Eden are the arifacts behind the whole battle between Assassins and Templars. Genetic Memory is the mechanism through which you get to access the memories from your ancestors and "live" those memories in order to reveal the location of the Pieces of Eden. Finally, the door code, 122112 is a date, December 21st, 2012, the end of the world according to the Mayas, and a key date on the game series since the first game.

The second image shows the message and the first image only points the location of the mission.

Thanks JRD. I did actually play AC 1 & 2 but I forgot the Pieces of Eden and genetic memory  :)

You are correct Art. I too bought the premium (or deluxe, whatever) edition and got those Lost Expedition missions. Just now I also used my Uplay credits and got one extra mission called "Testing Unit" (not sure if I will get more like the LE which are found spreaded over the island) and the revolver Fiach mentioned.  :-X

There are so many layers in that story that it's really easy to forget about the core plot, specially if you played those games a few years ago!  :)

There is of course the Abstergo logo also found during that mission:

Skip to 0.58 unless you wish to see where the lost mission location is precisely. The letter of the lost JRD posted is found during this mission and it's also the one where Jason wishes for a portal.

There are some nice references dotted around - but I particularly liked this one.

I wonder if there's going to be any way for us shlubs who don't pre-order to get the extra missions eventually? I see you can spend your "Ubi-points" on stuff, like that extra powerful pistol and something else (oooh! a wallpaper!)

Man, that Ubi-point stuff is worthless crap!! The only thing I found useful was the gun, that seems to be unlockable by signature weapon-stars in game progress as well.
Although there seemed to be 'extra mission content' as well. No idea what it really was :-\\
And that ended with only 4 unlockables which were obtained very fast.

D_B, you at least saved yourself some grief by not pre-ordering a hard copy.

If you didn't catch it over on my rant I have a receipt from GameStop dated March 31st 2012 for both AC3 and FC3 pre-ordered game discs.  I was assured at the point of purchase that all subsequent pre-order content as UBI continued to whip up excitement for the games' releases would be included in my copies of the games on delivery.

Turns out that it was a lie.  UBI has stiffed PC gamers of all the perks and incentives offered in the pre-order package if they wanted a hard copy of these games.  So basically I paid pre-devaluated dollars towards a freaking BS song and dance card full of excuses.

It would appear that UBI wants to force PC gamers to the download purchasing process only which I do understand that you employ.  As I have no workplace environment to efficiently absorb my bandwidth usage on that process it will never become an option for me and UBI can kiss all of my pre-order dollars as well as both sides of my hairy bifurcated backside goodbye.  >:((

nice rant

by the way, "hairy" reminds me of the fur-niture joke, bi-fur-nicated.

I just did The Leap of Faith during 2nd playthrough. Is that another AC easter egg ?

Most definitely; where did you do that?

I'll have to look for that on my next play through.  :-X

I'm actually thinking of starting a second play through even though I've not completed the first one.  I've already forgotten my earlier FC3 history.

Crumbs, that's tomorrow! It was nice knowing you guys...

Oh well, that second play through will have to wait after all.  I guess there is no point is paying my bills either
