I guess this counts as a screenshot, or many, actually. Tried to get this up in the gallery, but it won't take it, maybe I'm doing something wrong. Anyway, I'm hosting this on my personal web space, and only have room for one at a time, unless PZ can figure out how to get them up here.

Great w@&k D-B.  It's amazing still to watch a pan like that and not see the background being generated as you watch.
The sun is over the yardarm somewhere in the world..time for a beer :)  :)

That's cool D_B,
A couple of questions - how did you create it, and is this the location of the file on your computer?  D:\Temp\FC2 maps\Lake_View.jpg

The odd thing is that in viewing the source of the page, it seems that the location of files is on your local computer unless I'm reading the html incorrectly.

Dweller_Benthos

That's where the files was when I created it, it's on my webspace at the moment. I was just lazy and copied tbe entire html file that it generates as a sample. You only really need the part that it mentions:

<center>
<applet archive=panoapplet.jar code=panoapplet width=400 height=300>
   <param name=file value=Lake_View.ivr>
   <param name=initialView value="0.000000, 180.000005, 50.000001">
   <param name="autospin" value="50">
</applet>
</center>

Then you need to put in the IVR file, the actual panorama file, which is a JPG and the panoapplet.jar file.

I used isee media Photovista to create it.

That's cool.  Did you just meld together a bunch of screenshots? I can't believe it's so seamless.

can't see a thing there :(

all I see is the path to the file and the text about how to embed the code or something. but else, all white...

It is a Java applet - do you have Java installed, and are you using Firefox with protections like Noscript?  You might need to allow something to run if the browser security is set too tight.

As an aside, I harvested the three files from your personal page D_B and uploaded them to openworldgames.org, but there seems to be a url error in one of the files that I'll need to fix before it will run on our site - due to the three files that are needed to run the panorama, I doubt that the gallery will be able to handle the process so we would need to upload manually into the file structure of the server.

Art Blade

I allowed java, js, and at least temporarily allowed that site. no warnings from noscript after that, yet still...blank. I suppose I should see something without clicking anything there, shouldn't I?

Yes, you should see a player much like what you see in YouTube - strange that it is not working - Java version maybe?  Browser restart?

Art Blade

restart and experimenting didn't help.

Hey D_B, this is not a real solution to getting it displayed on our site yet, but if you sage that large jpg at 75% it reduces the file size to 1/5 the original (550k or so)

Didn't think it would but was hoping... I've encountered this kind of thing before when Java was involved - sometimes a version issue that is solved when the latest Sun Java updates are installed.  What version of Java are you using?  I'm using 1.5.0

Art Blade

haven't checked yet... but will do, and thanks for the tip  :)

sage the jpg? resize? eh? lol

Pretty sure that's the size it produces from 1024x768 screens, does it still w@&k resized? I wanted to preserve as much detail as possible.

I just uploaded another one:

http://home.earthlink.net/~dweller_benthos/Panorama/Cock_Fights.htm

Yes, these are stitched from a series of screenshots. I use the zombieAI command to keep the bots from moving around and then use the noclip trick to get shots with no weapon. Problem with that is, I can't jump to a higher perspective, and can only get shots from places I can walk to.

OK, I've resampled the images down to 80% and resaved with a bit more compression, got them all down to below a meg a piece, so I can upload them all. I've found a few quirks. I tried making one page with all the panoramas showing at once, didn't w@&k. Some of them would show, some wouldn't. Even tried two or three on one page and that was also weird, sometimes it would show the same pano in both viewers. So, I'm back to the original pages with one pano per. I've also found that I sometimes get a blank white area where the pano should be, for me, a page refresh fixes this. I've also gotten the viewer to show but get a message like LP Core Error again, a refresh fixes it for me. So, here's all the links in one go:

http://home.earthlink.net/~dweller_benthos/Panorama/Near_North_Railyard.htm

http://home.earthlink.net/~dweller_benthos/Panorama/Scrap_Salvage.htm

Since I've restarted the game, I'm back in the north, so only north locations so far. I like the Scrap Salvage one the best, since I could get to the top of the sniper tower to take the shot from, though there are some stitching errors you can see in the railing and deck of the tower. Nothing to be done about that, considering the source of the images was my shaking mouse hand. For that kind of correction you need a tripod mounted, leveled camera with a nodal slide to rotate the lens aorund the focusing node, and the exact lens settings to feed into the stitching software. I had to guess on the lens settings so there you go.

I love 'em D_B,
... need to find a way to make them w@&k through the forums code - so far I have managed to get the player working, but receive the LP Core Error you mentioned - refresh unfortunately does not repair the problem.  I've a feeling that creating a wrapper for the html will w@&k - more later...

Dweller_Benthos

There is another option when saving these that has to do with a plugin, but I never looked into it. I won't have a chance this weekend or next since I'm going to be away, but maybe some weeknight I'll get a chance to investigate.
