Car Colours: are some very rare?

Cool - you guys are noticing some fine details - I don't recall seeing the red or the yellow Jeep.

Funny you should mention that, because right now I'm playing around with my GPU settings. Depending on what I do there, I see for example this forum as pitch black or something between light brown and gray.

if you play around with gamma and contrast, you can achieve completely different effects, from white being gray, or a night in FC2 looking like hmm dawn.

Also, you have three factors: GPU, monitor, and settings in the game. Pretty confusing to get it right, if you don't have a pro gadget that actually checks the colours for you on the monitor, which I haven't.

I've had my share of tinkering with vid settings yesterday. I actually used three different vid drivers (due to a stutter lag problem, reverted to an old driver and everything's fine again)

What you can do is check if your vid driver menu contains a colour setup / where you can change Hue, Brightness, Contrast, Colours. That, and your monitor/TV will have a menu too where to set those parameters.

You then should produce a picture on your screen that you are familiar with, maybe a screenshot or a family photo :)

Now check the monitor/TV settings, I'd set everything to 50% (brightness and contrast at least). After that you can tinker with the vid driver, make sure shadows aren't too dark, but the picture shouldn't look like The Fog by night, either. You want to see every detail without having a layer of mist to ignore... If you're satisfied, save the settings. After that you might want adjust the screen a little, this time using the buttons of the monitor/TV. Like that, you should get a better result. White should be white, black black, and skin shouldn't look like minced pork meat :)

If you take this forum for instance, I can see there is a background left and right, the board itself is of a dark grey, and I can see it casts shadows on the background. The board has these flat bars with a small reflecting top, like to the left "forum navigation" where you see that little mup... erm, puppet, next to the text. I can see it as a different (brighter) grey and can also see the "bars" that form the background of front page elements (example "OWG Visitors from around the world") from left to right fading into darker grey, but not as dark as the general background.

Like that I can see every shade of a colour, yet it's not as if covered in mist. Like this, I have bright enough a screen to see everything.

Back to the quote, "i've never seen a white one [...] looks light grey," that might simply be a dirty white car  ;D ;D ;D

british racing green is a dark green guys. :-X

I'm confident that British Racing Green is a faster colour than the others. ;)

Don't remember seeing one in the Datsun Dummy Patrol southeast Bowa or anywhere else.
This one is in NE Bowa, close to the armory.

You're right, not exactly often, those yellow Datsuns :)

In Leboa, s/w bus stop, there is another yellow Datsun. I remember because I used it recently.

DAM! I just played it a few days ago. I saw a light or dark (not sure which) blue Wrangler. I know it was in Leboa...not sure where though. I just remember that I was like HOLY ()** THAT LOOKS AWESOME! I'll go look now and edit...

EDIT: I think the one by the North weapons shop can be dark green or light blue randomly, and also the one just north of Scrap Salvage. I'll have to look again...

I love Cal, he is still selling them out here, he is quite old now though. I love his commercials where he would say: "I'll stand on my head, to sell you a car", and he would be standing on his head during the commercial. :)

hehe... yeah nice :) funny how some patrols seem to use always the same colour (Bowa, around the Airfield next to the river, the Fuel-GP scattered across a railway. There is a dark blue Jeep Liberty stationary and a dark green Liberty on Patrol. Always when I checked the patrol was dark green) and other patrols vary (around the safehouse near Sefapane, where I set the car experiment, the Wrangler Patrol I saw was black, white and dark blue)

think my computers have developed some form of techno-telepathy !
after not seeing any black vehicles at all (many dark blue and dark green)
now in my infamous level game the cars are mostly black or white, (8 times in a row got black Jeep) occasionaly get a red.
the DLC vehicles are still always blue/white tho.

I was just thinking, you're not referring to red Assault Trucks, like the gren/.50 AT, are you? These are not so very rare, but still, I only know of one red Jeep Wrangler and one red Jeep Liberty.

As of the yellow Jeep... man, I can't seem to find any. I'm rummaging through my savegames now, perhaps I've got something there...

have defo blown a few Red Assault Trucks, tend to always get them patroling the road in Northwest area, (north from Cattle Xing, then west toward S.H. with USAS in it)

pretty sure have taken out red Jeep too, will keep eye out for it.

I found the savegame I had in mind, regarding the mission that requires you to dispose of the chief of police. There was a yellow AT and a green Libby and a black Wrangler, also a red buggy by the way. The savegame dates JAN 2009  :)

there was NO yellow Wrangler, after all. <sigh>

Had a red liberty chase me to the gun shop east of the port. Is that the one? I had driven the blue one from the port, got chased by a silver one from the GP at the RR tracks and the red one came down and joined the chase. Had a nice running gun battle when the ATP joined the fray.  :)

yeah, the red libby is stationed east of Port Selao, the nearest GP there has it.
