Video: free roam_dry rigs

Here is a little taste of free roaming in FUEL.  I'm starting off at Dry Rigs.  The blue line in the distance is a "livery" spotted which just means there is a new car there to unlock (you still have to buy it I think).  That's where I'm heading.

See the mountains off in the distance?  In most games it is just background and you cannot get to them.  In FUEL, you can get there and drive on them. 

No shooting, no enemies, just a beautiful drive on my ATV in the open country.  I'm not sure if the experience will translate to a viewer on a video but it is really something to experience.

Watch right at the beginning for a jet flying overhead.

cool. I can't wait to get this game on PC. June 19th if I am not mistaken. How is the 1st person view? I never use 3rd person in racing games as 1st person gives the greater sense of speed and allows more precision.

dke58- The trees are quite sturdy.  You can blast through small bushes, some guard rails and small fences, but most trees will not budget, you either just stop or "crash" and reset.  I wish it were better but I can forgive it based on the size of the map.  It's probably just too much to process it all for the game engines.  It really doesn't bother too much once you accept that reality.

gvse- There is no cockpit view if that's what you were hoping for, there is a bumper view though which seems typical compared to other games, but I don't normally use it.  My preference is cockpit view, 2nd is third person.  Hopefully the bumper cam will suit your playing preferences.

PZ- It refers to dry oil wells that is one of the race start places on the map.  It was just my starting point of my free roam.

Also cool is the weather changing, the cloudy sky is impressive.

Do you get something when you hit those barrels? Think I read you get points or whatever to "buy" new vehicles!!!

I've recorded a race as well that starts off quite stormy, the sky is incredible.  I'll upload it tonight.

Only white barrels with the FUEL logo gives you $$(fuel) to buy.  Old red ones don't.  It's just a little extra dough, the real money comes from winning races.  I think there are over 70 vehicles to purchase.

cool, was just joking with you, my driving is just as bad if not worse, first time driving in FC2 must of hit every wall and tree possible until it blew up.

Oh, haha, now I re-read your post and it means something different now.  Good one.  The Maples hired me to take out some Oaks!
