free roam video - Big Cauldron

I took a run from a helipad out in Big Cauldron heading for a vista point high on a mountain.  When I start its storming and raining with some fog and as I progress the sun comes out for a beautiful day.  What I think showcases the distance is that the vista I'm heading towards is the green line and at one point I'm cresting over a nice sized hill and it appears I'm about to reach my goal...nope more mountain to climb.  Enjoy some music by the Chieftains while you watch...

Wow, that looks pretty cool. I take it, though, that this game is racing only? No combat or anything? Can you get out of the vehicle and grab another?

Racing and driving.  The only combat is slamming into other drivers and forcing them off a road.  My next vid will be a race....enough easy going free roam for now hahaha.

You can change your vehicle from the menu during free ride at any time, but you can't get out and walk around.

haha, yeah I recorded, looked at the time and then sorted my music collection on length.  After the whole copyright thing with the Rush song I was trying to think which artists would be cool with me using their song.  I figured the Chieftains seem like nice chaps who'd be happy to spread their music to perhaps new listeners.  -Either that, or being Irish they'll be too drunk to notice  ;)  - no offence Fiach.  I love the Irish and I love beer.  Even married a gal whose mostly Irish.

Actually to make it match perfect I had to adjust the playback of the vid to be about 3% faster than normal but it isn't noticeable of course...

That is one of a few cars in the game that climb steep terrain very well.  It's quite fun.

Excellent video spaceboy, and I'm about ready to start playing Fuel again on the PS3 - still have not been able to give up FC2 for some reason...

FUEL is like two games in one.  The free roam can be an almost existential experience if you listen to your own music and just go and explore.  It is just amazing to be in a game world so large.   The other game is of course the racing which is great (mostly offroad) racing either SP or MP.  Like I said I'll record a race next for a better overall view of the game.

I still say I'll race you PZ on the PS3.  I should be on later tonight (after 11:30 central)

My morning time is the usual PS3 time for me, but I'll see if I can keep the wife occupied so I can get on the console.  If not, then I'm relegated to the PC (I kind of need to do a few things) but would sure like to play hookey from w@&k.
